Come join Ann Arbor Kirtan for an informal evening of yogic and Sanskrit chanting. Kirtan is an ancient tradition that has most recently been popularized by such notable people as Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Deva Premal, and Ragani.

Kirtan is a participatory, call-and-response, cross-cultural music experience that incorporates the audience right into the performance. Kirtan is less about musical ability or training, and is more about the heart, reconnecting us with our inner self and universal consciousness. We combine Indian and western instruments and melodies, including cello, guitar, dulcimer, tambura, harmonium, flute, cymbals, tabla, and an assortment of other drums.

We are a group of individuals who have been chanting together with the goal of holding ongoing community chants. If you prefer to sit on the floor, please bring a firm cushion or folded blanket.

We hope to see you there,
John Churchville, Dennis Chernin, Glenn Burdick, Judy Piazza, Karen Levin, Atmaram, Alice Greminger, Catherine (Pavan) Lilly
